First People's Cinema: 1500 Nations, One Tradition was the the largest series of indigenous film ever compiled. Three years in the making, the programme focused on the work of aboriginal filmmakers, from activist documentaries and narrative features to daring avant-garde experiments and fascinating historical discoveries.
The identity for the programme — utilized everywhere from web ads and trailers to large-format signage— was based around a single bold sheet for the series pasted over a background of torn and decaying posters. These posters were drawn from across the entire history of film, and many feature shocking visuals and language. They aimed to represent the sorts of problematic representation usually accorded to aboriginal people in films not made by indigenous filmmakers or communities.
