Shock & Awe

Promotion for all-night B-movie marathon

Role: Graphic Designer

When I was asked to develop the promotional materials for the 2013 iteration of "Shock & Awe" — an annual shlock fest in Toronto — I was lured by the design challenge of somehow uniting two very different creatures: the always-creepy Klaus Kinski (who starred in two of the night's films) and shameless E.T. clone at the centre of 1988's Mac and Me (another of the programme's highlights).

Though I originally thought to create a monstrous pieta using the two, eventually I opted for a more secular option: casting Kinski and Mac as the farmer and daughter from Grant Wood's iconic painting American Gothic.
